I made shoes!

Ok, my quest to make single prim shoes from sculpties has succeeded. I demoed them during the CSI:NY launch and gave them out to two newbs.

Some points: They are mens shoes. This mens they are designed around the sl foot not the other way around. Why should I have to shrink my foot to fit your shoe. IN RL, your shoes fits my foot.
Same mentality here. They are copy and mod enabled, so you can size them to your feet without shrinking your feet.
They will be on sale shortly as I wanted to gauge reaction. I will be putting prim laces on them.
However, the goal was a nicely textured shoe that was prim lite so they could be worn in high lag environments.
The first out will be red diamond storm. Pics soon.

A solution to a growing problem

Okay. Before I start, I want to say that I am still behind on the store because I have numerous RL things that take precedence. As Much as I would Like to do all the things I have planned rapidly. I can't.
However, I do have a few new things. Thanks to my prebuilt templates, I have the 'Costa Verde High School Phys ED' Gym shirt going up for sale by Monday. I am focusing on Heroes related stuff and well as the usual shirts.
This brings me to the point of this blog. A solution to the growing theft problem on Second Life.
It is simple to lift a texture on SL, so I am not going to tell anyone. If you know, you know. If you don't, you really don't need to. And we all use templates of some sort even if we hand paint.
Also, due to compression and the the fact that Jpeg2000 is the file type that the Assest server group uses to store the textures, watermarking is futile. It could be either damaged, removed or altered.
So where do we go from here. Not to the Lindens. Phillip and Robin have repeatedly said they WILL NOT be the police force for SL. That unlike 'there' we are going to have to take care of it ourself.
First, before we do anything we need to like, caLLie cLine said in her comment on Shoppingcartdisco, that the person isn't do it deliberately. Show them the correct way.

But that won't help the true thieves will it? No it won't. They want a quick and easy solution. So here is the way to end that and render the easy of copy moot. As with any plan this will cost something. It will cost any serious designer time. It will cost a bit of money. But it will end this.

I propose a storage bank of non searchable images of everyones originals. It won't be open to the public and it won't be available to wander around and use to steal. But it will be timestamped and dated and be able to solve the problem of people saying 'You ripped my garment'
If the one from the garment is older, then it is the original and the other is the copy. Only the designer and a neutral party would have access to this. I would suggest that the neutral party have minimal photoshop skills but be the warehouser (meaning the person who had major coding skills, networking skills etc)
So lets get together and hash this out. I suggest that all the major designers have a meeting to decide how, who and what about this. Because in all honestly this is the only way to go, if we want to end this.
Thunderclap.
